How to "steal" a boat to save a flamingo)))
Everyone knows the famous pink lagoons in Torrevieja. I often go there for a walk to be alone with my thoughts. One day, I notice a handsome young flamingo with its wing tangled in an abandoned fishing net out in the deeper water. It breaks my heart, but if I swim out, I’ll scare the bird off—plus, the water is deep.
A small motorboat was moored nearby; its owner had stepped away to a café. Girls, my inner Amazon kicked in! ))
Recalling how my dad had taught me to handle a boat motor back in my youth, I hopped behind the helm without asking, started up the vessel, and sped toward the bird...
I cut the net with a pair of manicure scissors, the flamingo flew off, and back on shore, the furious boat owner and the police were already waiting for me.(((
But when I explained—with tears in my eyes and the remains of the netting in my hands—that I had been trying to save the city's symbol, the owner (who turned out to be a local eco-activist—I got *so* lucky there) softened his stance. I didn't get slapped with a fine, but the "aggrieved party" insisted that I treat him to dinner at the best seafood restaurant!
Now I'm wondering: how do I gracefully get out of this? Or should I just invite him???
Honestly, I just don't feel guilty!
Or am I actually to blame after all???
