Is it possible to judge the character of a person by appearance?

I recently asked this question and would like to hear your opinion and express my opinion.
I think that in appearance you can not judge a man. To begin with, you need to know him, talk to him and then you will be able to draw any conclusions.
For example, I met people who are themselves very beautiful, but they are empty inside. There is even such a proverb: "They meet by clothes, see off by the mind".
This I lead to the fact that the first discussion of a person is made according to his appearance, and after acquaintance is paid tribute to his clever thoughts or knowledge.
What do you think? I think that the very first impression of getting acquainted with a man will not coincide with a much appreciated estimate its merits. Am I right?
