A stroke of luck— Meeting the winds of change

I was sitting on the terrace of a cozy café in Torrevieja, stirring my cooling coffee with a spoon and feeling a touch of sadness.

It’s never boring here...

But I was feeling a bit down... :(

They say that even when you have everything, a sort of melancholy can set in...

Has that ever happened to you?

Moving to sunny Spain seemed like the start of a new fairy tale,

but the reality turned out to be far more mundane: an endless search for an apartment, mountains of paperwork, and a complete lack of romance.

Do you agree with me?

"Stop moping!" my friend Masha fluttered out of the beauty salon with a radiant smile and practically flew onto the terrace. "No more sitting cooped up inside. Tonight, we’re going to a beach party by the port. Wear something bright—we need a night of pure fun!"

I resisted for exactly two minutes—just long enough for Masha to talk me into wearing a new, flowy dress. The sun was gently sinking into the calm sea, a warm breeze tousled our hair, and the air seemed to sparkle with the anticipation of something extraordinary.

A Lucky Break for a Friend
The party was a lively affair: Spanish music, peals of laughter, and string lights glowing against a backdrop of palm trees. Masha—a natural at striking up conversations out of thin air—was deep in chat with a group of local expats within just ten minutes.

And then, her friend really hit the jackpot. The person standing next to Masha wasn't just a charming conversationalist but a successful architect from Northern Europe—and he happened to be looking for someone who shared his passion for travel and cozy living. The spark between them was unmistakable: within half an hour, they were laughing like old friends, and by the end of the evening, they were exchanging contact details with serious intentions. Masha, needless to say, got incredibly lucky!

I was genuinely happy for my friend, yet deep down I sighed: "Well, yes—Masha is the star of the evening, while I’m back in the audience."

A Turning Point
She walked over to the bar to order a glass of water with lemon, savoring the moment and her own independence. Poised, beautiful, true to her principles, and knowing exactly what she wanted from life, I had no intention of settling for frivolous holiday romances; I was looking for *the* one—my soulmate.

“You look like you’re fleeing from pirates,” a calm, deep voice with a pleasant accent said nearby.

Do you have an accent?

I turned around. A man of about thirty-five was standing just behind me, holding a glass. There was no intrusiveness in his gaze—only keen interest and genuine respect.

A conversation struck up naturally. We talked about moving, the challenges of adapting to a new country, the value of loyalty, and how hard it is to find someone with similar life values in a world of fleeting trends. I was surprised by how easily and deeply the dialogue flowed. It turned out he had also recently moved to Torrevieja; he valued family traditions, loved home-cooked meals, and was looking for a woman for a serious, lasting relationship rather than a meaningless fling.

The evening ended with a long walk along the Torrevieja waterfront at night, accompanied by the sound of the surf. Masha, who had headed home in her prince’s brand-new sports car, was on cloud nine. Yet I found myself thinking that my own evening had been every bit as wonderful.

My friend might have had a stroke of incredible luck that night, but I knew for certain: her own story was just beginning. And it was a story that would definitely have a sequel.

So, what should it actually be like?

I want to be happy too—I want true female happiness...

Tell me, where is my man?

When will my real story finally begin?

...and not just conversations at a bar counter...

Tell me, what do *you* want?

What exactly were *you* thinking when you came to this site?

And—if it’s not a secret—how are things going for you here?

Tell me, what’s the right thing for me to do?

Should I stay here and wait?

Or should I leave?
